More about John Sherry

WHAT about John? Guitarist – Composer – Teacher – Played in lots of bands, 100 or possibly more. Written a lot of music and played quite a bit of my own and other people’s music. These days I perform solo (200+ dates a year, pre-Covid), as The Looper, on my wonderful Breedlove acoustic guitars, utilizing the Boss RC-300 Loop Station run through my Fishman SA-330 (A little background for you gearheads out there). I’ve been making my living as a one-man acoustic guitar band for the last seven years or so and it’s fun and extremely challenging, which keeps me interested and growing as an artist. ALONG with performing I also compose and produce music in my own studio. My tastes are eclectic and I’ve recorded 8 albums (CDs), and various singles and I’ve been lucky enough to have 5 of my compositions placed on the hit CBS TV show, The Mentalist. Initially I was asked to provide source music for the opening scene of one of the episodes. They needed it on a very tight schedule and I was able to deliver what they wanted on time. The producers liked what I came up with and over the course of three seasons gave me several more opportunities. I later took a couple of the cues and turned them into full length tunes. One is called Mental Twang and the other is Red Wine.

SINCE then I’ve produced several more albums and singles which you can find on my discography page. They cover a wide range of styles, but my main focus is producing recordings of songs from my Looper repertoire.
